What is TS/IATF16949 Automotive Quality Certification?

IATF16949, fully known as Automotive Quality Management System Certification, is an international automotive industry technical specification. Based on ISO 9001, it adds specialized automotive industry requirements and is fully aligned with ISO 9001:2015. It focuses more on defect prevention and reduces quality fluctuations and waste in the automotive parts supply chain.

The TS16949:2009 standard is an automotive management system based on ISO 9001:2008. Following the release of ISO 9001:2015, ISO/TS16949 was officially renamed to IATF16949.

IATF16949 Certificate for Automotive-related Enterprises

IATF16949 certification applies to manufacturers of passenger cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles and related parts & components. It excludes production plants for industrial forklifts, agricultural vehicles, construction engineering vehicles, mining and forestry equipment.Main covered services:

Heat treatment, painting, electroplating and other surface treatment services
Molds, toolings and production equipment

Main requirements for enterprises to apply for IATF16949 certification:

Enterprise compliance documents (e.g. business license);

Mass supply of automotive products and automotive supply chain proof;

Provide production flow chart;

Quality system operation for more than 12 months with at least 12 months of process KPI data;

Complete at least one internal audit and management review;

Equipped with sufficient personnel, facilities, office and production conditions.
