Established on February 1, 2003, ICC-ES was formally merged by four major U.S. building product evaluation agencies, including NES, BOCA Evaluation Service, ICBO Evaluation Service and SBCCI Public Safety Testing. Together with its predecessor institutions, ICC-ES boasts more than 80 years of industry experience.

03Certification Process

The official procedure begins with a formal application, together with supporting documents such as product data, test reports and review fees. After application acceptance, a dedicated technician will be assigned to review assessment data for compliance with building codes and ICC-ES criteria, which are approved by the industry-led ICC-ES Evaluation Committee. Once all technical inquiries and requirements are satisfied, the official evaluation report will be issued and published online for public inquiry, while a hard copy will be delivered to the applicant. The initial report is valid for 1 year; subsequent renewal terms may be set as 1 or 2 years.
