Introduction to ECE R55 E-mark Certification

ECE R55 is a unified standard formulated by the Economic Commission for Europe, specifying performance and safety requirements for automotive towing couplings. It regulates load capacity, mounting methods and connection structures between couplings and vehicles. Only products passing ECE R55 testing and E-mark approval are permitted for sale and use in the European market.

ECE R55 covers comprehensive test items. Static and dynamic load tests verify the rated load capacity of towing couplings. Fatigue testing simulates long-term service conditions to guarantee service life and operational safety.

Mounting compliance assessment is also required. Whether fixed by bolts or welding, each installation type must pass load verification to ensure structural stability and connection reliability under various working conditions.
