Explosion-proof Equipment EAC CertificationCustoms Union Certification
TR CU 012/2011 specifies the safety requirements for electrical and non-electrical equipment operated in potentially explosive atmospheres to protect life, health, property and the environment. Explosion-proof equipment for use in hazardous explosive areas must be designed and manufactured in accordance with TR CU 012/2011, ensuring reliable prevention of explosion or fire risks during intended operation. The requirements of TR CU 012/2011 are aligned with EU ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, though they are not identical.
Adopted: October 18, 2011
Effective Date: February 15, 2013
Since March 15, 2015, national explosion-proof standards such as GOST and Russian local TR standards have been invalidated and replaced by TR CU 012/2011. This regulation covers all explosion-proof electrical / non-electrical machinery and equipment, including protective components for explosive atmospheres. Although regional standards vary (GOST in Russia, ATEX in Europe, FM in North America), the classification and assessment methods are highly similar.
