General Introduction
The CodeMark scheme is a voluntary building product certification program. However, customers in Australia and New Zealand often require CodeMark certification for market access. By issuing the Certificate of Conformity (CoC), CodeMark provides reliable confirmation to regulators and the market that building products comply with the Building Code of Australia (BCA) or the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC).
Implemented in both Australia and New Zealand, the scheme is jointly formulated by the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), formerly the Department of Building and Housing. Due to differences in local building regulations, products sold in Australia must comply with the BCA, while products for New Zealand must meet the NZBC. Separate certification for each country is therefore mandatory.
