In March 2011, the EU issued the new Construction Products Regulation (EU) No 305/2011, namely CPR. It has been fully enforced since July 2013, replacing the old CPD Directive 89/106/EEC.
CPR sets a unified performance evaluation standard for construction products across the EU. It ensures the safety and stability of building materials, preventing threats to humans, livestock and property in building and civil engineering design and construction. The new regulation retains the core provisions of CPD and unifies regional regulatory differences.
Scope of CPR Regulation
Construction products refer to all items permanently incorporated into construction and civil engineering works. Typical products: steel structures, cement, wires & cables, doors & windows, building hardware, flooring, glass, fireplaces, wallpaper, tiles, sanitary ware, etc.
